If you’ve ever felt intrigued by acupuncture yet wondered “Will it hurt?” or “What actually happens in a session?”—you’re not alone. This offering is designed especially for first-timers and the acupuncture-curious. Nothing to prepare, nothing to perform—just an open invitation to be supported.
At Ember Rose Retreats, acupuncture is not a clinical rush or a one-size-fits-all experience. It’s slow, personal, and deeply nurturing.

You’ll be lovingly guided by Taylor, our licensed acupuncturist and Doctor of Chinese Medicine. Taylor brings not only extensive training and experience, but a truly warm, intuitive presence. Her bedside manner is gentle and grounded—she listens deeply and meets each person exactly where they are.

You’ll spend about 20–30 minutes chatting with Taylor—sharing how you’re feeling, what’s been coming up for you physically or emotionally, and what you’d like support with.
She’ll offer thoughtful feedback, explain what she’s noticing, and answer any questions along the way so you feel completely at ease.As the treatment begins, Taylor will gently place very fine acupuncture needles where your body needs support.
The needles do not hurt—most people feel little to nothing at all, and many are surprised by how calming the sensation is. The process is slow, intentional, and always guided by your comfort.

Once the needles are placed, you just need to simply rest for 25–30 minutes, you’ll lie comfortably, often drifting into a meditative, dream-like state. This is where the magic happens—your nervous system softens, your body shifts into deep rest, and many people feel a profound sense of calm, warmth, or gentle release.
There’s nothing to do. Just breathe. Just receive.

Taylor will return to quietly remove the needles and gently bring you back. You’ll have time to check in, share how you’re feeling, and receive any insights or reflections she has for you.
Many guests leave feeling grounded, lighter, deeply relaxed—or simply more themselves.
This experience is an invitation—
to slow down, to listen inward, and to allow your body to do what it already knows how to do: return to balance.

This is the most common question—and the answer is no. The needles are extremely thin (much finer than anything used for injections). Most people feel little to nothing at all. Some notice a brief sensation that quickly melts into relaxation, warmth, or ease.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to relax fully. Loose, cozy layers are ideal. Needles are typically placed on the arms, legs, hands, feet, or ears—no need to fully change or wear anything special.
You are exactly who this session is for. Taylor will walk you through everything, answer questions, and move at a pace that feels supportive. Nothing is rushed, and nothing is expected of you.
That’s completely okay—and very common. The session begins with conversation, not needles. You’ll have time to settle in, ask questions, and build trust. Many people notice their nerves soften before the treatment even begins.
Everyone’s experience is different. Some people feel deeply relaxed or meditative, others feel warmth, heaviness, or gentle energy moving. Some even fall asleep. There’s no “right” experience—whatever shows up is perfect.
You are always in control. If you need to shift, speak up, or ask for something, Taylor is there to support you. Your comfort is the priority.
Most guests feel calm, grounded, and refreshed. Some feel lighter emotionally, some feel energized, others simply feel deeply at ease. Taylor will check in with you afterward and talk through anything you notice.
No preparation needed. Afterward, gentle hydration and rest are encouraged. You’re welcome to simply enjoy the rest of your retreat day and let the effects continue to unfold.
Cupping therapy is a gentle, restorative practice that uses suction from fire to increase circulation, release muscle tension, and support the body’s natural healing process. You do not feel any heat or burning during the process. The cups will feel like a slight suction on your skin. With Taylor Roy, each session is thoughtfully tailored to your needs—helping to ease tightness, reduce inflammation, and promote deep relaxation. It’s a grounding, therapeutic experience that invites your body to unwind, reset, and restore from within. You can enjoy a 30-minute cupping session or add it on as a deeply relaxing addition to your acupuncture session.
Taylor begins by gently removing the acupuncture needles (if you added this onto your session), allowing the body to settle into a deeper state of relaxation.
Warm oil is then applied to prepare the skin—inviting ease, softening tension, and creating the perfect foundation for cupping.
This is where your body starts to truly unwind.
Using a traditional technique, a brief flame creates a gentle suction inside each glass cup before it’s placed on the body.
As the cups settle, they begin to draw blood flow to the surface—helping to release deep tension, improve circulation, and support natural detoxification.
You may notice the skin changing color… this is your body responding and releasing.
The cups are slowly and gently removed, leaving behind circular markings that reflect areas of stagnation and tension.
Warm towels are applied, followed by a soothing massage to calm the nervous system and integrate the treatment.
You’re left feeling lighter, looser, and deeply restored.
